I would say I’m a fairly environmentally conscious person. I recycle, I pick up rubbish if I see it in the street, I buy free-range eggs, I tsk at climate change reports on the news and I try and grow my own veggies (with the emphasis on try).
It all counts, right?
I’m told it does, but I can’t help but feel that I could be doing more, or better yet understanding more.
I break out in a cold sweat when I think about how we may be affecting the world, not just in terms of the environment, but also at the rapid pace we are tearing through the worlds limited resources and the apparent exploitation of poorer and developing countries to fuel our never ending desire for more and more crap we don’t actually need.
Well, there will be no more cold sweats for me. I have decided to take a step back from all the confusion and actually look to find out what effect my purchasing decisions and lifestyle choices have and how these decisions can be better made.
My main focus will be on the things we eat (how and what we eat is the area that we can have the greatest impact, simply by the choices we make) and the things we buy.
I want to use this site to record all the useful information, simple recipes, purchasing alternatives and new ideas I discover so that anyone else who has the same issues with cold sweats will find this information useful too.
I know that with a more educated and thoughtful approach to the snap decisions we make every day, significant improvements can be made with just some minor tweaks – it need only take A Little Change.
What is it about the world that gives you environmental cold sweats?
