Each fortnight for the six months until the end of 2013, I will be doing a series of short posts titled ‘Swap This’. These posts will be centred around ways to make little changes by using alternative products to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill. I hope to show you that there are other options to buying over packaged goods and maybe you will save a little money too!
I was given my Onya reusable produce bags as a gift and they have become one of my favourite items in my handbag. For a long time I told myself that while I was using plastic bags for my produce it was okay because I always re-used them. But then a couple of things happened, 1) my pantry started to overflow with plastic bags that I was supposedly going to ‘re-use and 2) a plastic bag broke on me in the grocery shop and my apples fell on the floor. The fact that I had a bad feeling about tearing off and using the bag in the first place and then for it to not even do the job it was created for really pissed me off. Fortunately it was about the time I was gifted the Onya reusable produce bags and it has been happy days ever since.
